They all have never been to stressful. I moved when I was young and didn't have much. Well the time has come that I finally move into a house. My grandmother's old house. It is very <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">familiar</span> to me and I know it well but along with me just moving I am moving with a husband and two kids and mass amounts of furniture and other items.<br /><br />Moving has always been somewhat easy for me cause I did not accumulate too much and it was very easy for me to let things go. Boy how it has changed for me now.<br /><br />Over the past 10 years my husband and I have gathered lots of <em>stuff</em>..I won't say crap cause I really like the stuff we have collected. Right now we have 2 garage fulls of all kinds of collections and random boxes full of records, movies, vintage clothes, sports <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">memorabilia</span>, vintage <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_2" class="blsp-spelling-error">knic</span> <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_3" class="blsp-spelling-error">knacs</span>, old skateboard and surf stuff, Neon signs, framed posters, tons and tons of old toys, old <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_4" class="blsp-spelling-error">barware</span>,old ceramics amongst other things I have never even unpacked from our last move.<br /><br />This is the biggest thing I dread about our new move is moving all the stuff in the garages.<br />I must be strong though and cut loose a lot of it. I mean I like to collect things but I don't want to become a hoarder.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEileaKFni95Z-3qvAsJWB05JNYz6GV5J_9LC1ggcvxQkHRa_T6Li8vc5Vt7PabFjHgxIYwHNFznkY0fAc-HbWrUVUtQ0W3toiqrRQTXHY2N_c6tftOQ-t6k-VhCrdti4koWchAvfTJV86k/s1600/dans+038.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5475232344668340434" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEileaKFni95Z-3qvAsJWB05JNYz6GV5J_9LC1ggcvxQkHRa_T6Li8vc5Vt7PabFjHgxIYwHNFznkY0fAc-HbWrUVUtQ0W3toiqrRQTXHY2N_c6tftOQ-t6k-VhCrdti4koWchAvfTJV86k/s320/dans+038.jpg" /></a> Here are just one tiny small corner of what our garages look like<br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtLR1kq9nkn59ds6y7vwwV_CKRHtRfnJv8J4Z6Xb1OWS1-xyui1OkSu6OSDvw7h6a3zLD0qeE45-O_Zpy_UNEviOr7CUZ9isCwJybdIGDnGt0bYLZwYvrK4RbyTtIkHIfLtqYljd9_Rio/s1600/dans+037.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5475232336218124050" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtLR1kq9nkn59ds6y7vwwV_CKRHtRfnJv8J4Z6Xb1OWS1-xyui1OkSu6OSDvw7h6a3zLD0qeE45-O_Zpy_UNEviOr7CUZ9isCwJybdIGDnGt0bYLZwYvrK4RbyTtIkHIfLtqYljd9_Rio/s320/dans+037.jpg" /></a> Behind those flags are boxes and boxes full of vintage toys and <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_5" class="blsp-spelling-error">playsets</span>. It's been forever since I posted in here but I still come and visit often and have not forgotten about this blog..As a matter of fact coming up later will be one of my Bizarre and freaky finds at the last Antique show I went to..<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">anyhoo</span>...<br /><br />I been on this mission looking for old CHARM Bracelets. I was sorting through my jewelery box when I came across my grandmother's old charm bracelet she gave me a long long time ago when I was about 16. On her bracelet she had a wish bone, a cowboy boots, her zodiac sign and a few other things.<br /><br />I like the fact that you can personalize your charm bracelet to represent all the things you love!<br />Sometimes On <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">ebay</span> I will see vintage charm bracelets posted that people have found at estate sales and picture just by looking at the charms what this person was like.<br /><br />Looking at my grandmothers charms you can certainly tell she was into country western. You can always almost find a Key or a heart on just about any charm bracelet as well. I am sure a key will always have a different meaning by each <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">individual</span> person. What a interesting question to ask that a person if you ever see them with a key charm...What is your meaning for the key? I try and get out to the every weekend when I have no party to attend and when the cash is flowing. Last Sunday we went to the swap meet and looked around...My items I had an eye for that day..Barbies and other Miscellaneous dolls.<br /><br />Anyway I came across this creepy looking clown doll in a pile of dolls at one booth...It totally reminded me of Poltergeist!! So I thought <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">hmm</span> In my collectors corner blog I am going to try and do a new feature of <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">The</span> weird, The Creepy And The Bizarre (a list of a creepy and down right weird items I find) hopefully a few times a month.<br /><br />So Here is my first Creepy Find of many to come.....<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3UgYmRTJc9DR_zxv4QLtQovIo_RPXuhAwqwuB9_yRXO9BhTbq6tu3wVAGPk_mBT97AFqLx46dCSXgH01SXx99Y_9jrW8KWYK9gsBbVVTL4CzFg9PsCAQdxLw8y2ab1g8Fe0swzXd3wY8/s1600-h/photos+2281.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349224729781324450" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 213px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3UgYmRTJc9DR_zxv4QLtQovIo_RPXuhAwqwuB9_yRXO9BhTbq6tu3wVAGPk_mBT97AFqLx46dCSXgH01SXx99Y_9jrW8KWYK9gsBbVVTL4CzFg9PsCAQdxLw8y2ab1g8Fe0swzXd3wY8/s320/photos+2281.jpg" border="0" /></a> Imagine finding this at the foot of your bed.<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">muahahaahaha</span><br /><div><br /><br /><div></div></div>Retro Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15052077093848165814noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4409901479492803700.post-64692949884600424622009-06-08T13:20:00.000-07:002009-06-10T13:13:04.494-07:00The joy of treasure hunting<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg16pxQMCCVDzy7vVvjWy39v_8xId7EXHFz12J1Zuu0pCahDPhuCkoM2JMf7ZrirYqXsc3FR-9qc_xdXKWc8kdk5jAcemfRDH37frF3H5E5h8jUuNBYEfATQJHUtBoDlr6JBXSX5mGSHIA/s1600-h/curious.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345755796212101026" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 192px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 270px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg16pxQMCCVDzy7vVvjWy39v_8xId7EXHFz12J1Zuu0pCahDPhuCkoM2JMf7ZrirYqXsc3FR-9qc_xdXKWc8kdk5jAcemfRDH37frF3H5E5h8jUuNBYEfATQJHUtBoDlr6JBXSX5mGSHIA/s320/curious.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>I have a Huge HUGE fascination about<span style="font-size:130%;"> </span><a href="http://www.lauralevine.com/mystery-spot/what.php"><span style="font-size:130%;"><strong><span style="color:#663366;">curiosity shops</span></strong></span></a><strong>.</strong> Anytime I travel and see some strange little place that has eye catching Junk in front of it I immediately have to make an B-Line through the front doors..GET OUTTA MY WAY !!!<br /></div><br /><div>I kid you not I even have DREAMS of winding up in some strange antique store. I have also been taking a liking to Barbies lately as well. I had a few that I have received as gifts but now find myself buying some here and there.<br />The last thing I want to do is spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on doll collecting (I say that now). I keep telling myself..oh I will start collecting them for Ava..I know I really want them for myself.<br />Than once I get the dolls , I will have to scout out the cool custom outfits and accessories that people make and sell on ebay or Etsy...I can see it already..my room covered in dolls..I like the eerie kind too with the big eyes...oh my poor husband.<br />So my Wish List for doll dolls<br />are Susie Sad Eyes, Blythe, Chrissy by Ideal, Scooba-Doo, and Keane.<br />Now I am starting up a pretty good Barbie collection too..Some were gifts and others I have bought to add to my collection (that I'm starting for AVA)..That will be another blog all on it's own<br />Here's some pictures of my doll Wish List that I did searching images online..<br /><br />Scooba-Doo<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjF1sWVA2ey0qcSYunKVPC9C_f8VToBxzR5Mtush7xeHJtHuYKyGuF4NBc9PhrUZT4tVeix5pI8i5Ekdx6WxqbVc22LCcPH_lEyRdlT7us7xpSGH6P1d94QcQklefTSiCgUzq7F0ekOGD4/s1600-h/doll3.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5342814526032338018" style="WIDTH: 212px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjF1sWVA2ey0qcSYunKVPC9C_f8VToBxzR5Mtush7xeHJtHuYKyGuF4NBc9PhrUZT4tVeix5pI8i5Ekdx6WxqbVc22LCcPH_lEyRdlT7us7xpSGH6P1d94QcQklefTSiCgUzq7F0ekOGD4/s320/doll3.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Blythe<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkJKIMHOcd4TPwDznd2xYnncfyCQ4KEWprvD05x2ooO1c3iwS1CJU6tFxfJrJBCXPqGukT3PnwdmW0E3_QlQ8ZTrsJZl1-jXQ6uPPJloPwNJibvdzwW1bxzgb82RcwG0NK1nxQyBEbmwI/s1600-h/doll1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5342814525681557618" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkJKIMHOcd4TPwDznd2xYnncfyCQ4KEWprvD05x2ooO1c3iwS1CJU6tFxfJrJBCXPqGukT3PnwdmW0E3_QlQ8ZTrsJZl1-jXQ6uPPJloPwNJibvdzwW1bxzgb82RcwG0NK1nxQyBEbmwI/s320/doll1.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Susie Sad Eyes<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjedC5bp-npUo48nwDEe94duoZVmfItDcNKNvQOCvT6ztjqQsVWwqFR7DEVfdSEWOw0tT8bs-suoyQRlqzjZR62Nzw3EvhPss3LYFHoH1gwvql3KlljTJAq2j1zcUlayn02d5HhtrOwGM/s1600-h/doll2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5342814524376556114" style="WIDTH: 120px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 120px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjedC5bp-npUo48nwDEe94duoZVmfItDcNKNvQOCvT6ztjqQsVWwqFR7DEVfdSEWOw0tT8bs-suoyQRlqzjZR62Nzw3EvhPss3LYFHoH1gwvql3KlljTJAq2j1zcUlayn02d5HhtrOwGM/s320/doll2.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Chrissy<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRjhprmzPkFI_H31Ork0CRI9zljICmm0otDOKO1zgquYwAPwwyhucMn1PH04nc18RYq5WheRxNqza4ONaOPPzaR0LAaXhyphenhyphentz438aXYa-NuWa2Yz1AaiXp7yrb7l75mXrTf33B_kgbchbI/s1600-h/doll.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5342814517649591954" style="WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRjhprmzPkFI_H31Ork0CRI9zljICmm0otDOKO1zgquYwAPwwyhucMn1PH04nc18RYq5WheRxNqza4ONaOPPzaR0LAaXhyphenhyphentz438aXYa-NuWa2Yz1AaiXp7yrb7l75mXrTf33B_kgbchbI/s320/doll.jpg" border="0" /></a>Retro Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15052077093848165814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4409901479492803700.post-61715171734082886742009-05-18T14:15:00.000-07:002009-05-18T14:41:43.779-07:00Let's Lighten things up a bitWell It has been awhile since I blogged in my collectors corner blog..I blog every day in my everyday life blog and I have been slipping on days there too.<br /><br />Anyways Yesterday we had a earthquake here in lovely California which I just so happen to be lounging around on my couch when I felt a small rumble and looked over at my Swag Lamp that started swinging ..which brings me to one of my favorite items I collect...LAMPS.<br /><br />I have a HUGE fascination with lamps. I find that Lamps can really set the tone to ones home decor..I guess since I have so many from all eras.. this is why a few have commented my home looking like a consignment shop which some may feel insulted by that remark but I LOVE consignment shops so I think it is kinda cool.<br /><br />I really wish I could just cover my home with all the lamps but the irony there is I am more of a Dim lighted atmosphere type of person. I have several table lamps, paper lanterns, velvet swag lamps, <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">TV</span> lamps, even Neon beer lights (those stay in the garage).<br /><br />My ultimate favorite lamp though is my <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">extremely</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">ginormous</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">gaudy</span> White goddess rain lamp!<br /><br />I remember my grandmother having a rain lamp as a child and I would spend the night there and I would be soothed to sleep by the sounds of the oil pump of the lamp. I always ALWAYS wanted to touch the little oil beads that would cascade down the clear sturdy threads.<br />(I always find that the things I cherish most are from memories of my grandmothers house)<br /><br />Here are some pretty cool lamp photos I found from Lamp dealers around the US.<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmpdBRZZuyPnUVeJu2gmBPuOmK1bIflBk6f8AJbvmIs6B2MmbD992HIRuMEvMsICddxO3AMyqs35CWwb8O5OG880NyHvn4QUtg4U2QRPvvnjxDpEUXlJZ00Rx6UJUA05amlqxAi092wIw/s1600-h/lamps3.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337278193210863762" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmpdBRZZuyPnUVeJu2gmBPuOmK1bIflBk6f8AJbvmIs6B2MmbD992HIRuMEvMsICddxO3AMyqs35CWwb8O5OG880NyHvn4QUtg4U2QRPvvnjxDpEUXlJZ00Rx6UJUA05amlqxAi092wIw/s320/lamps3.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPCnPpQUKnQffW1TmnT_XFIW4JLyOZDHhUHtYwpBBslXqjdbmPm_C9BQf6MDZdD1alIx5PaNOpCmIMU0agfke7UitkjdryeJO_sE4w81wNAzfQuyhgQCmLAdzapdzoEqUyhC2niY0Yb1s/s1600-h/lamps1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337278196810943842" style="WIDTH: 293px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPCnPpQUKnQffW1TmnT_XFIW4JLyOZDHhUHtYwpBBslXqjdbmPm_C9BQf6MDZdD1alIx5PaNOpCmIMU0agfke7UitkjdryeJO_sE4w81wNAzfQuyhgQCmLAdzapdzoEqUyhC2niY0Yb1s/s320/lamps1.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCHJEeo2YP7nId1NgOVAd_MTGIcfpm0-CpPJXvaZPNkxGKKSiE6eQLPE-NI9lKj9Nj2k0ExC-ogp4tubpIjiXv7CuLHfOc12L-dF40LXm4RAy4HV6v8BHF6X6VfIqPr0U2lnnXOoSlg7o/s1600-h/Lamps.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337278189765206178" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCHJEeo2YP7nId1NgOVAd_MTGIcfpm0-CpPJXvaZPNkxGKKSiE6eQLPE-NI9lKj9Nj2k0ExC-ogp4tubpIjiXv7CuLHfOc12L-dF40LXm4RAy4HV6v8BHF6X6VfIqPr0U2lnnXOoSlg7o/s320/Lamps.jpg" border="0" /></a> </div></div>Retro Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15052077093848165814noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4409901479492803700.post-71663406897679519632009-04-27T15:05:00.000-07:002009-04-27T15:34:21.102-07:00A room with a View<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3RCI682lhbdouRmboh52V0cQy2FlkFQv66yaoOesUrapZuvJWaJ9nonhJMZYFk4T8Hcy3GD1VC7qvQ0rSyRviITZ-Yd170YSfHxow9xBmA36_CcPmNpJJcBtStMQOBXIF8csX9vufjgw/s1600-h/viewmaster1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5329502775216097906" style="WIDTH: 250px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 247px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3RCI682lhbdouRmboh52V0cQy2FlkFQv66yaoOesUrapZuvJWaJ9nonhJMZYFk4T8Hcy3GD1VC7qvQ0rSyRviITZ-Yd170YSfHxow9xBmA36_CcPmNpJJcBtStMQOBXIF8csX9vufjgw/s320/viewmaster1.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />So my son has show and tell at school and I always try and think of something cool and unusual to give him to take (which I am sure what is cool to me is probably lame to him).<br />I had him take the pez collection last month.<br />Anyway I was going through my closet and found a huge box of <span style="font-family:georgia;color:#990000;"><em><strong>Viewmaster</strong></em></span> slides from the 50's and a couple of viewmasters. I remember them as a small child because back in my German heritage on my dads side of the family they always had cuckoo clocks. My dad came to my house and took it off the wall and was looking at the mechanics of it all and he also started to reminisce about being a child and always being drawn to his grandmothers ornate cuckoo clocks hanging through out the house.</div><div> </div><div>Than it began ..the buying of the books, the constant hours researching the clocks online, the hunting of old clocks at swap meets, thrift stores and eBay. Than the purchasing of vintage clock repair tools and clock restoration websites. </div><div>Now him being very into nautical themes he wants to start hand carving his own clocks. Which brings me to todays blog...Marx Playsets.<br /><br />I really wish my husband was here right now cause this is big thing he collects. My closets and garages are FILLED with dusty old tattered boxes of army playsets, cowboys and Indians and lord knows what else he has got hiding in there...as a matter of fact one day I am gonna take pictures of the garages and just blog about the kooky stuff in there.<br /><br />My husband mainly collects the WWll playsets. He said what triggered his desire for these<br />playsets is when he was a child he wanted one so bad ...I believe it was the Normandy one...and his neighbor had one and he would go there all the time to play with it.<br />He found the playset on ebay and than just got into the addiction of collecting more and more. So many of these old playsets would be incomplete so than the new addiction was trying to make a complete set by hunting online and soon it became going to the toy soldier conventions and trading and selling with other aficionados and subscribing to playset magazines and going to message boards. I would wake up at like 3am for a drink of water and notice my husband in the computer room on ebay searching for Marx playset stuff.<br /><br />Louis Marx was an American toy maker and was the largest toy maker in the 1950's. He sold his company to Quaker Oats in 1972....Every once in a while though my husband will find some cheapy unknown toy company who had made some reproductions from actual Marx toy molds.<br /><br />It is UN BE LIEVABLE how much his playsets fetch with toy collectors. Almost one day a week I will find a playset assembled in my living room. My son plays with them so often that my house almost every corner you look in or surface we have has a army man or tank on it.<br /><br />I did however HAD to get one playset for myself.....The Disneyland Playset. I think there are a couple minor missing pieces such as a Disney character and a car...but I am sure my husband will find it for me at 4am in the morning one of these nights.<br /><br /><br /><br />Here are some pictures of some playsets...<br />We have these..<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS0Pu2pkB5UAh_cUxXTsZqKM7LM5Y8kPIa76n321N_qiwo-Cps_jWrodXtPFXWdiectQ8SmcY3g1uHSgsjd9_kZmWClHc2jPXtmWtBIefDXFUhCA_7Y4f2FDliBpUsobFGTNshzIvZIrc/s1600-h/army-5.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5307310805778397090" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 182px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS0Pu2pkB5UAh_cUxXTsZqKM7LM5Y8kPIa76n321N_qiwo-Cps_jWrodXtPFXWdiectQ8SmcY3g1uHSgsjd9_kZmWClHc2jPXtmWtBIefDXFUhCA_7Y4f2FDliBpUsobFGTNshzIvZIrc/s320/army-5.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />The Disneyland Playset<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2GZymjVrbZ0TLsHCcB-1yKAOcC4bUHfj1SPTtF3yAVigVZ7ZZx7tDbocKiaSwkI5oXojERoKEC8e5T4mDW1wUOkQ9EaY-KJkyOWhqTaw3rWgTexwc3avVK_igxDdQduvh7OdlbTFkHxo/s1600-h/playset3.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5307310800105968946" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 134px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2GZymjVrbZ0TLsHCcB-1yKAOcC4bUHfj1SPTtF3yAVigVZ7ZZx7tDbocKiaSwkI5oXojERoKEC8e5T4mDW1wUOkQ9EaY-KJkyOWhqTaw3rWgTexwc3avVK_igxDdQduvh7OdlbTFkHxo/s320/playset3.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />I think we have this one<br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzU2Xlg_CyNE4zh0EDlMHHpIpnoEbZd-wRSASDrBorlA1E8nKGqk9XfGQvUUxwV8QVrn1oGIZqlzPNVWyw3SFdKFoMAJ3muTVwDmc-npMl99wGeblJc59O9nPPJl4d_qLzCQ4QAnMKQDA/s1600-h/playset1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5307310796043637042" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 155px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzU2Xlg_CyNE4zh0EDlMHHpIpnoEbZd-wRSASDrBorlA1E8nKGqk9XfGQvUUxwV8QVrn1oGIZqlzPNVWyw3SFdKFoMAJ3muTVwDmc-npMl99wGeblJc59O9nPPJl4d_qLzCQ4QAnMKQDA/s320/playset1.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgApZ-BkbE21dWTts_lMy9pEyy0HVLZJclfXYI3TDo6A-WSguVSBDkVlD__fXfn1r3GtIxJyb9B9D-vpkaSeeAwG4Fac-IVyEH6Sasw6hgzULzgM7Zwd2MCknzBmD0xgD1y4VdFe4Iuy-A/s1600-h/playset2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5307310793426584946" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgApZ-BkbE21dWTts_lMy9pEyy0HVLZJclfXYI3TDo6A-WSguVSBDkVlD__fXfn1r3GtIxJyb9B9D-vpkaSeeAwG4Fac-IVyEH6Sasw6hgzULzgM7Zwd2MCknzBmD0xgD1y4VdFe4Iuy-A/s320/playset2.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /></div></div>Retro Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15052077093848165814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4409901479492803700.post-17720357632333050862009-02-25T13:55:00.000-08:002009-02-25T14:33:28.688-08:00Even in Paradise it snows..<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv5ueMaldiCRkNGT0zC5mUcKpGrrMyBFzOI_6HPSblD7gL1zaL5evBJ7OghT3Kma9_QeWtRDApUYLZtjriV4NE9BHHoxC0KwqaCgJ3hz6-BoQa_vsSEsddlqCkATVUeAq2ZRuG8tqylOc/s1600-h/8-23-snowglobe.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306858387054152786" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 220px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv5ueMaldiCRkNGT0zC5mUcKpGrrMyBFzOI_6HPSblD7gL1zaL5evBJ7OghT3Kma9_QeWtRDApUYLZtjriV4NE9BHHoxC0KwqaCgJ3hz6-BoQa_vsSEsddlqCkATVUeAq2ZRuG8tqylOc/s320/8-23-snowglobe.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>***snow globes***From a collectors image</div><div></div><div>A few years back at a flea market I came across the coolest old school Vegas snow globe ever. I was so tempted to buy it but I thought do I really need to start collecting any more items..and let alone it be snow globes where my walls would be covered..hmm I think not but I have to admit after looking at some collections they are pretty cool.</div><div> </div><div></div><div>Snow globes or other known as water globes were first seen in Paris in the 1800's. They were basically a glorified Paperweight and became quite popular. They were made of glass and in the 50's they started being made in plastic as well. Every gift shop in every state began selling them and in the 50's back when taking family road trips were the norm it started becoming a must do thing to have a globe from every state you drove through..or spoons or bells for that matter.</div><div> </div><div></div><div>There is something pretty magical about snow globes...gazing through them and whisking yourself off back to your much missed vacation. The kiddos love to shake them up too.</div><div> </div><div></div><div>After awhile though the water will begin to evaporate and if kept in the window sill or where any active sunlight shines through the image will begin to fade. This is more common to happen with the novelty plastic globes.</div><div> </div><div></div><div>I wish I had a globe now of my house where I can gaze into it and whisk myself away from work....</div><div></div><div></div>Retro Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15052077093848165814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4409901479492803700.post-60055832599840739022009-02-23T15:27:00.000-08:002009-02-23T15:53:14.001-08:00Come and Get it!!!!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkuLilVZYSl7cKdLYr0m0KSKinbGFJMEAkb540pW7weUs2_FNFP8FeydVbQ_96T-cE6h6Zb-9BrELRM1uJ8JMlPkcIS6dgCgcSFMrlPibOH8yIFFUYdrpD9NlO1QO_h82jZna2szMGYZ4/s1600-h/lunchbox-museum.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306143065721209970" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkuLilVZYSl7cKdLYr0m0KSKinbGFJMEAkb540pW7weUs2_FNFP8FeydVbQ_96T-cE6h6Zb-9BrELRM1uJ8JMlPkcIS6dgCgcSFMrlPibOH8yIFFUYdrpD9NlO1QO_h82jZna2szMGYZ4/s320/lunchbox-museum.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />A LUCNHBOX MUSEUM...YOUR KIDDING ME???<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNCBQ6l6mNbCVAWi2ToSp1jkjLj-QttMIBUq2ePHJGEOVAcpFGl29nNjBr0Weyp-oJV2Ug_UrYJUj8zU4AFtYRaphpsS8ERzfRSVKZ2mhLCnFcZfd6Fs0Leh2LlTOU1dt5WIcmV5dWzHQ/s1600-h/lunch.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306143064980651922" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNCBQ6l6mNbCVAWi2ToSp1jkjLj-QttMIBUq2ePHJGEOVAcpFGl29nNjBr0Weyp-oJV2Ug_UrYJUj8zU4AFtYRaphpsS8ERzfRSVKZ2mhLCnFcZfd6Fs0Leh2LlTOU1dt5WIcmV5dWzHQ/s320/lunch.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Someones collection pictured on Flicker<br /><br /><br /><br />It's Chow time..Today's Blog...Lunch Boxes!!<br /><br />When I was younger the more fortunate children had lunch boxes..I came from a lower income Hippie family and most of the time my lunches came in a old brown bag. The contents a poor child like me would get in this old brown bag (which was a recycled old brown paper bag from the liquor store most likely). The contents..One bologna sandwich on Wheat bread ( and I am talking the darkest, dry est, wheat bread with the nuts and oats on top (no fun mind you for a 5 year old) a bruised banana or an orange, some fig newtons ( if I was lucky) and 15.cents for a carton of milk from the cafeteria window or water from the fountain was always good enough for me.<br /><br />Ok ok maybe I exaggerated a little ( the wheat bread is no joke though and neither is the brown bag, nor the fig newtons). But I was lucky enough to have at least one pink plastic strawberry shortcake.. I believe it was.. lunchbox at one time. ( hey it was the 80's all the cool tins ones were replaced by thick plastic ones)<br /><br />I was always so envious of everyones lunch pails and it really did tell alot about that individual child. They always had the most awesome lunches in them too. A peanut butter and Jelly sandwich on WONDER Bread with a snack pack or ding dong, and pieces of fruit like a Peach or Grapes and a nice thermos with some kool aid or fresh squeezed lemonade ((very few times would see a can of cola included)).<br /><br />I can't believe the craze on collecting all started off basically by one guy who collected them and wrote a book about what he thought over all his years collecting what they were worth. I guess when you been collecting something for a long time and really done your research on it and it does not have a book ..you can really determine what you believe the value on it would be.<br /><br />My son..he get lunch money for the cafeteria.Retro Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15052077093848165814noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4409901479492803700.post-88933741552105702692009-02-19T14:01:00.000-08:002009-02-19T14:44:19.720-08:00A greeting to remember<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMo5nMZanb68wIxyk5aI_K7Uxmj797bq2RGJrtORfGuC0tbyPhliyxtdHyv9ByeahiqX06nnRy1rfUPfrbEuKu_BbUueuh7bl-ca3gJTQEVASc9ceyWmg__bfRrOwTN0xbw9g-0AG0HJs/s1600-h/card.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5304638680213415010" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMo5nMZanb68wIxyk5aI_K7Uxmj797bq2RGJrtORfGuC0tbyPhliyxtdHyv9ByeahiqX06nnRy1rfUPfrbEuKu_BbUueuh7bl-ca3gJTQEVASc9ceyWmg__bfRrOwTN0xbw9g-0AG0HJs/s320/card.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>I was very surprised the day before Valentine's day to find a Will you be my Valentine card in my mailbox from a very dear friend. ( a picture I found online of someones personal collection above)</strong><br /><strong></strong><br />When I try and think back to the cookie jars I had as a child I think one was a animal of some sort..maybe a teddy bear, than we had a beehive one, than a Garfield one.. than for some reason I guess cause I was no longer a child ..it than became a old green Tin container that read FLOUR..<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ6wO3nFOYku4-RsovKkBrTik-QEMqNjfXFwQxOWXupH5NTxP21DlsKgMTd1frmb1up6Pt5DpSq4DxgX6uSowtMu3EykSCErTl4X36OpLTK2k4enL0aBPatyaS9czZvm7MqZDYyRSYhf4/s1600-h/2618.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5302437463509387490" style="WIDTH: 234px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 312px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ6wO3nFOYku4-RsovKkBrTik-QEMqNjfXFwQxOWXupH5NTxP21DlsKgMTd1frmb1up6Pt5DpSq4DxgX6uSowtMu3EykSCErTl4X36OpLTK2k4enL0aBPatyaS9czZvm7MqZDYyRSYhf4/s320/2618.jpg" border="0" /></a>Retro Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15052077093848165814noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4409901479492803700.post-56845592871224147032009-01-19T15:27:00.000-08:002009-01-19T16:08:14.580-08:00Plop plop fizz fizz oh what a relief it is....<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXHSijqAWXksj8erzAA-H77_nksgAvCU9Bur7q6AmdHOg3_IlDAZMor-Ucv7AWBcONoHEHf5JGNOD43NmoFeWhacCXCLkcQdaqZ7beQKwslrK-HDHCpZkuf0G5N33csDVZi1fKZTI2npM/s1600-h/ad5.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5293160285475684386" style="WIDTH: 250px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 250px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXHSijqAWXksj8erzAA-H77_nksgAvCU9Bur7q6AmdHOg3_IlDAZMor-Ucv7AWBcONoHEHf5JGNOD43NmoFeWhacCXCLkcQdaqZ7beQKwslrK-HDHCpZkuf0G5N33csDVZi1fKZTI2npM/s320/ad5.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Yesterday my mom went to the big Antique and Collectables show this weekend in Long Beach and because she knows I like to collect cat figurines( long neck cats mainly) she told me about a booth there that was filled with nothing but Black cats. I remember as a child getting happy meal toys and I would play with them for a couple of hours than it was just another piece of junk sitting at the bottom of the toy box never to be played with again. I must have passed this trait over to my son cause its the same thing. He is begging for that toy than during spring cleaning he has nothing but a toy box of happy meal toys.<br />Everyone would believe that McDonald's was the first to promote this great marketing ploy but it was really a local small regional fast food chain called Burger Chef. They introduced these little thin plastic hand puppets.<br />Oh and if toys weren't enough than came the Play gyms at McDonald's, The paper King Crowns at Burger king and the antennae balls from Jack in the box. Oh than for .99cents with the purchase of a meal you could get a cool glass or wacky straw.<br />So Cheers to the happy meal toys....... you will never really be worth anything but a fond childhood memory.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD3eegXZUP1cPTuGSUlKKXx77A6XCU5L53Wtz9jflaR6y8EvR7PHgo-e-2XLF97RiffzbGawaA7250AK5A5ers1nO2E_nbvH4pfvmpcJQBOlWbEh4enx8yPBq0LfZlkNvDHthdr2hbKdQ/s1600-h/mcd1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5292676860729127282" style="WIDTH: 299px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD3eegXZUP1cPTuGSUlKKXx77A6XCU5L53Wtz9jflaR6y8EvR7PHgo-e-2XLF97RiffzbGawaA7250AK5A5ers1nO2E_nbvH4pfvmpcJQBOlWbEh4enx8yPBq0LfZlkNvDHthdr2hbKdQ/s320/mcd1.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div></div><div></div><div></div>These were from Burger King<br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRLKp56-Vh10cST7LLQA33yRqaDTcGTU_wj_pxZ6hx2YfUMO5ovMzuqAaH9r9-gbunI8NhIJ0K9hJIEsw7bkl7si3XTmXuCTo4OoKc0nT6GmPV6Y3CMQCSuQaa3Won70PlBNmZTmjnbEw/s1600-h/bkglass.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5292675262555696114" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 213px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRLKp56-Vh10cST7LLQA33yRqaDTcGTU_wj_pxZ6hx2YfUMO5ovMzuqAaH9r9-gbunI8NhIJ0K9hJIEsw7bkl7si3XTmXuCTo4OoKc0nT6GmPV6Y3CMQCSuQaa3Won70PlBNmZTmjnbEw/s320/bkglass.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div></div>The Mac Tonight figurines from Mcdonalds<br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih2HzpBRTrN03_jeqAs1nZKo8xD3TmG_x14hwPpg9m_a6avobFRiTPPq2eiwyuiRkTrq_NndUmuixmq3JEVrohZFy3VZNkPlHtES6cHri70GqlBNHd2LQ8qFeTawEbvJSTn9_igVddtdk/s1600-h/mactonight.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5292672961245631090" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih2HzpBRTrN03_jeqAs1nZKo8xD3TmG_x14hwPpg9m_a6avobFRiTPPq2eiwyuiRkTrq_NndUmuixmq3JEVrohZFy3VZNkPlHtES6cHri70GqlBNHd2LQ8qFeTawEbvJSTn9_igVddtdk/s320/mactonight.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD6_6dVXe-aTN9BakrZQjmZePvJ4n9kpftqHoXF2expm520cBSuPNhETMNBN845F39Hwo6dt2ag9Qdp1SrGGCqtlFhJekky0ksEodwxmfHqIrBABde040F9-N6XeLVXcqZsH6fpbqWXv8/s1600-h/burger.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5292672958176381138" style="WIDTH: 100px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 149px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD6_6dVXe-aTN9BakrZQjmZePvJ4n9kpftqHoXF2expm520cBSuPNhETMNBN845F39Hwo6dt2ag9Qdp1SrGGCqtlFhJekky0ksEodwxmfHqIrBABde040F9-N6XeLVXcqZsH6fpbqWXv8/s320/burger.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyGLdp1Xd_eKXwJCN62-q2Ebh9oswUcyuOjWByMcKz0leRkggRbxvqMluXwLfPb49FN7w43CahNyiKhzdMEXkhlCKEf0JkHlUZhrtUrBMf-nplpYI3XL6vO-OQDRCzQSF07bxPRzjOHec/s1600-h/mcd.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5292670949637697362" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 243px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyGLdp1Xd_eKXwJCN62-q2Ebh9oswUcyuOjWByMcKz0leRkggRbxvqMluXwLfPb49FN7w43CahNyiKhzdMEXkhlCKEf0JkHlUZhrtUrBMf-nplpYI3XL6vO-OQDRCzQSF07bxPRzjOHec/s320/mcd.jpg" border="0" /></a> </div><div>**all photos were taken from online toys dealers**</div></div></div></div>Retro Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15052077093848165814noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4409901479492803700.post-82271161801328663442009-01-05T15:26:00.000-08:002009-01-05T15:38:48.235-08:00It's been awhile..Slideshows anyone? Now that the Holidays are a thing of the past I can catch up on my blogging!<br />I have been seeing more and more people scouting out for old slides at yard sales, thrift stores and online. Some people just have a curiosity in reviewing the lives of people from other eras which actually can be quite fascinating.<br />Collectors are publishing books, and blogging, and even doing stage slide shows off of peoples abandoned family memories.<br /><br />Charles Phoenix has made a HUGE following with his Hilarious comedy filled slide shows and also published some wonderful books which I own all of them all autographed by him.<br />My husband and I went to his Disneyland slide show and it was the best.<br />I strongly encourage for you all to checkout his site and his books.<br /><a href="http://www.charlesphoenix.com/">http://www.charlesphoenix.com/</a><br /><br /><br />Not only are they collected for viewing but check out the awesome art you can make too!<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCrNJZ0w1VusWUKVzCjQx21N6ZC3fbP7BIlgw-nJp7ttyweqVrgSYWDWukI0Jfk8jP5yAMiThgGO3pw_M4j2no7Z6zUKBdi9YMpPq_tJoeSOTzeax0dxA8PtBLJkHOZYyAAAPrri15DgQ/s1600-h/slide.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5287957827741347010" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCrNJZ0w1VusWUKVzCjQx21N6ZC3fbP7BIlgw-nJp7ttyweqVrgSYWDWukI0Jfk8jP5yAMiThgGO3pw_M4j2no7Z6zUKBdi9YMpPq_tJoeSOTzeax0dxA8PtBLJkHOZYyAAAPrri15DgQ/s320/slide.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Charles Phoenix<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJPvXu6hrGFQF3jcBpWm3_g7C3a6-1aDEueu5csnDkKOsCSovtvMOsPaKHExprpWedkeZgZCi6GLJLaoOMVV0ymYtst0yiMqpCSvS6MHMJKW_bBXVGpwsiXw2_dVPrw6svvNbwPOJOH30/s1600-h/charles-phoenix.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5287957300333724402" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 230px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJPvXu6hrGFQF3jcBpWm3_g7C3a6-1aDEueu5csnDkKOsCSovtvMOsPaKHExprpWedkeZgZCi6GLJLaoOMVV0ymYtst0yiMqpCSvS6MHMJKW_bBXVGpwsiXw2_dVPrw6svvNbwPOJOH30/s320/charles-phoenix.jpg" border="0" /></a>Retro Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15052077093848165814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4409901479492803700.post-42576571824223805752008-12-22T12:36:00.000-08:002008-12-22T12:47:57.308-08:00The beautiful world of Blythe<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMg3dx6oUlGXZX8ndMA41oxamPeeCk6vDCjld9NxXvjC_irsO8UanhrKUe9je1I9V72oqovqHl1zPiE27cS3Q_PSjmjrMX9PN4bAzSer9vPMpeQTGI6zUiU3DP5Jw6rF2p6celdONvsDg/s1600-h/blythe3.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5282718888290711202" style="WIDTH: 98px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 130px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMg3dx6oUlGXZX8ndMA41oxamPeeCk6vDCjld9NxXvjC_irsO8UanhrKUe9je1I9V72oqovqHl1zPiE27cS3Q_PSjmjrMX9PN4bAzSer9vPMpeQTGI6zUiU3DP5Jw6rF2p6celdONvsDg/s320/blythe3.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVBjETFKGpz3ccP8ngEQZMzDo9hNCRMR92l5ZLapTGE6LN8MjHmbb3F1ZYCAR2ll-lSBqDgXMZnqWYcP05Tc7OhFMnrRDYN9Kr-vt26KYjrXj4n4L64ZKBpsQHYQrtI5ApK7KolF4Hqvg/s1600-h/blythe2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5282718892196031426" style="WIDTH: 93px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 124px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVBjETFKGpz3ccP8ngEQZMzDo9hNCRMR92l5ZLapTGE6LN8MjHmbb3F1ZYCAR2ll-lSBqDgXMZnqWYcP05Tc7OhFMnrRDYN9Kr-vt26KYjrXj4n4L64ZKBpsQHYQrtI5ApK7KolF4Hqvg/s320/blythe2.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLD-1SwDet5FgYZNjrbq57MBxZt3bCSemi2ySTCRgOLt7ytD3Z5uJyUc9W7IV9DVMulVnowVj-brgbFqvEz8B4Ws3MdQn0t2imME1s9tisPxqsfrbUSBc103usTvCM8-QPCMhza3fqVXo/s1600-h/blythe.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5282718891531146066" style="WIDTH: 90px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 135px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLD-1SwDet5FgYZNjrbq57MBxZt3bCSemi2ySTCRgOLt7ytD3Z5uJyUc9W7IV9DVMulVnowVj-brgbFqvEz8B4Ws3MdQn0t2imME1s9tisPxqsfrbUSBc103usTvCM8-QPCMhza3fqVXo/s320/blythe.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div>Now Blythe was before my time. Introduced in 1972 by <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Kenner</span> for only one year.<br /><br />What made this doll so cool?<br />Well besides the Oh so Groovy attire this doll had this string <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">connected</span> on the back and with a pull of the string her eyes would turn and look at different angles and would change color. It really was the only doll that can somewhat change expressions.<br /><br />This doll is now being reproduced by other different brands. They make them custom now with wild hair styles and colors, tailored to your style of clothing, make-up and some even have piercings and <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">tattoos</span>. Oh and the accessories are unique as well.<br /><br />They are quite expensive and <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">extremely</span> hard to find outside of the US. A guaranteed question I asked my mom when she took me shopping and the same question I am always asked when I take my kids out shopping.<br /><br />Oh those ever so tempting Gumball machines and little merry go rounds outside Zody's or Kmart how I loved them so.<br /><br />I remember as a child I always was tugging away at mom or dad for a dime for the machines.<br />It was just not gumball machines either. It was the rocket ship ride that would slightly lift off, or the "ferris Wheel" seat that you sit in and it goes in circles , or the little mini theater you would sit in and close the tattered curtain and watch an old Heckle and Jeckle cartoon.<br /><br />Anyways, it's not only old gumball machines that people collect but also the toys that were dispensed out. My grandmother had a drawer full of old plastic thin charms from the 40's and they had these frail little string on them. Than I remember the ones that had little mini books than you had Tattoos and Super balls ( Throw it down one time really good and it is gone forever) and you can't forget them Wacky Wall Crawlers that looked like an octopus and you bash them against the wall and they crawl down it. Only problem with that was once it hit the floor a couple of times it would get all hairy and that was it for the wall crawler.<br />In my opinon the coin op kid friendly machines will always be a past time favorite and a favorite for many years to come.<br /><br />*pix taken from photos online*<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd-0NPvdMeNvTvDwUuyt71zB6qXqJYz8d2Owiw1dH0WJ3YmOJiC2OLeX9ANz-_hMTBdMRYllTJP9u9yZr5OS9ehzZpaRqoX4LskqZlfVS2hHE2ZLVy4A2XKJKzrfuAK4V_fb49QaZtOIQ/s1600-h/gum.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5281909265134976098" style="WIDTH: 249px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd-0NPvdMeNvTvDwUuyt71zB6qXqJYz8d2Owiw1dH0WJ3YmOJiC2OLeX9ANz-_hMTBdMRYllTJP9u9yZr5OS9ehzZpaRqoX4LskqZlfVS2hHE2ZLVy4A2XKJKzrfuAK4V_fb49QaZtOIQ/s320/gum.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJWzG8EQ13q5BNt6Kt_KYFyEntEl521gLij-OkU6TuDpx2rT6-sjebv_1VOvJQqagTEeB0uokpzuog5XHl1iPt68-n-OTAdjrNJtJ601qZgkkhXUqyGTsv2H5HC6IKR5D0WO4GbROM_NU/s1600-h/gum1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5281909259328287122" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJWzG8EQ13q5BNt6Kt_KYFyEntEl521gLij-OkU6TuDpx2rT6-sjebv_1VOvJQqagTEeB0uokpzuog5XHl1iPt68-n-OTAdjrNJtJ601qZgkkhXUqyGTsv2H5HC6IKR5D0WO4GbROM_NU/s320/gum1.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEippA65MYygfmzl9hkFuijcaBpvdeYskKj77fzjx68pJKbRzvbyR_Yc9lO5JrET0ZNxOL0dilNJrpvWoFPFqsaQPCREoxy62jGoldw39EBEyt1offH0yhkuJNMZSJ7RZGJ-EofJMC-Kv0k/s1600-h/gum3.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5281909251065742978" style="WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEippA65MYygfmzl9hkFuijcaBpvdeYskKj77fzjx68pJKbRzvbyR_Yc9lO5JrET0ZNxOL0dilNJrpvWoFPFqsaQPCREoxy62jGoldw39EBEyt1offH0yhkuJNMZSJ7RZGJ-EofJMC-Kv0k/s320/gum3.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTa4e_bxa8BP8IKFyB9NM8JaYeXC-bLrJBNWmBivArZblQNbFVOC45Z4s9-gDjwyc5t_RZqZzlzy70X0w8SB9dXj5ZLzQgLGENsSxGDEQ76RFeYS6V8hdGgt3ZzqgiZ93BcHDAIwaVFOw/s1600-h/gum4.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5281909234310821282" style="WIDTH: 230px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTa4e_bxa8BP8IKFyB9NM8JaYeXC-bLrJBNWmBivArZblQNbFVOC45Z4s9-gDjwyc5t_RZqZzlzy70X0w8SB9dXj5ZLzQgLGENsSxGDEQ76RFeYS6V8hdGgt3ZzqgiZ93BcHDAIwaVFOw/s320/gum4.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /></div></div></div>Retro Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15052077093848165814noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4409901479492803700.post-45534251122021475572008-12-18T08:24:00.000-08:002008-12-18T08:34:26.435-08:00Sneak a Peek at a Pin Up anytimeSwanky men all over must be well familiar with those sneaky peek a boo pin up ties.<br /><br />These were produced as early as the 40's well into the 70's. I'm talk'n those colorful simple tubular bodies with the little round heads and plastic hair.<br /><br />Who thought these would become so popular for collectors...<br /><br />FP little people bring me back to soo many memories. I think my favorite was the A-Frame house. The green looking weinerschnitzal house looking one with the bell.<br />I have been collecting these playsets for a few years now and I think I enjoy collecting so much because there are so many different playsets.<br /><br />The most sought after fisher price playset is the Amusement Park.<br /><br />*pictures were pulled from a toy dealers site*<br /><br /><object height="344" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/MMXbfzi28JE&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/MMXbfzi28JE&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLM4D9vKiNfGH-7SQuEurH1Pd8CGWDFbtYM6KKRNZkKBI4NnZAMoMRvOwfpC6zmijjShChs2o8X2P8Zho_lHTTfk-n_Pg10WEYbea8kar_SjRpVQTqXeJVXVBdDvYBb3tg63zvvN7ylgc/s1600-h/fp2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5280959648582457202" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLM4D9vKiNfGH-7SQuEurH1Pd8CGWDFbtYM6KKRNZkKBI4NnZAMoMRvOwfpC6zmijjShChs2o8X2P8Zho_lHTTfk-n_Pg10WEYbea8kar_SjRpVQTqXeJVXVBdDvYBb3tg63zvvN7ylgc/s320/fp2.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmtwV_7CIdFVImft-EJbiuq3maScxLkUldCHWCKV237Pt7Bd-o1DFS-Uwbt3RqL5uWH_d6EaGl3tCDYr-q-dVK5CeamopSKCn9bB6bYFXsczyRY1Ekd3UIgia5xC1LCpTo5fNgVEE0pTA/s1600-h/fp1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5280959646396691138" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 246px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmtwV_7CIdFVImft-EJbiuq3maScxLkUldCHWCKV237Pt7Bd-o1DFS-Uwbt3RqL5uWH_d6EaGl3tCDYr-q-dVK5CeamopSKCn9bB6bYFXsczyRY1Ekd3UIgia5xC1LCpTo5fNgVEE0pTA/s320/fp1.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5uTwduHpxx9DzneNfizrst2hlnW60xCcyFWjUBpCRWUD769OimeUWfCxA_U4wP0cfJnVWrWu7WBLwFVZpqEUgGbiLqanVz65tYsHKBchPGeLw6lyuWWEoBjdKKHRGxYLavDWgTAwAZjM/s1600-h/fp.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5280959646833597154" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5uTwduHpxx9DzneNfizrst2hlnW60xCcyFWjUBpCRWUD769OimeUWfCxA_U4wP0cfJnVWrWu7WBLwFVZpqEUgGbiLqanVz65tYsHKBchPGeLw6lyuWWEoBjdKKHRGxYLavDWgTAwAZjM/s320/fp.jpg" border="0" /></a> </div></div>Retro Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15052077093848165814noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4409901479492803700.post-32247966134552252762008-11-03T15:03:00.000-08:002008-11-03T15:04:45.994-08:00on delaySo I haven't posted on here in awhile cause I don't think anyone ever looks at this blog anyway but it is hard to tell since most of the people I know read my blogs but are not members on this site to leave comments or have their own blogs so until I know anyone actually reads my kppky collectors thing I am gonna hold off doing it cause I can barely find the time to write in my own life blog.Retro Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15052077093848165814noreply@blogger.com1
